Starting from where i left off. Friday. Buka at home then rushed to Geylang Serai. Dunno why i always rush. [Never go or went but rush/rushed] And again, always early. In a sense there's always people later than me. Bah hum bah. Ended up at the bazaar after that anyhows. Took a bus 67 to tampines. Found it hard to sleep with all te excitement and adrenaline. Before making my way home, followed amin to get some VCDs. Thus the need for excitement. They [not sure who], so "They" converted Mega Perdana 1997/98 finals from tape to VCD. There were 3 plus 2 from Andika's competition. Slept at around 3.30 in the morning. Fuh.. gila.
Its really interesting how you cannot tell how a preson looks like by their voice. Especially the Tukang Karuts. Having been secretly dreaming of being a Tukang Karut, i looked up to the way these karuts present themselves in ther unique styles: Hikayat, Hulubalang and Putera Dewa.
Hikayat - the "Satu dua cha cha cha tiga cha Eh salah Eh salah. Udah jagan asik bercha cha jika setiap kali langkah kau itu pecah itu bukan budaya kita, zapin dondang inang yang harus diambil kira."
Hulubalang - The way the karut spoke in a continous fashion and his overall voice. Way impressive. I'm most awed by his har to duplicate style.
Putera Dewa - "Nun tersegam di hadapan. Pulau yang di janjikan tuhan. Pulau hakiki tempat perhimpunan" Not only the lyrics keep popping in my mind but also how the karut presented it.
All this was when i only got hold of the songs itself on CD. After watching the VCD, little did i expect Khairuddin Samsudin or Abang Yaziz, affectional called abang pendek when he was teaching my school, to be the karuts. Also I pictured the hulubalang karut as fleshy even obese i dunno why. haha.. So it really was a faulty mic Kelana Purba were using. I thought it was censored when there were missing sounds. Ahaha..
Tiada bidadari, Tiada pari pari,
Tiada seranum buah menghurai ke bumi... -- Baik ah Dendang's juara
Ulan seems to be the most glued team. Did they all shave their heads on purpose?
The host for the show were blisteringly lame if not a disgrace.
On to the next VCD. Harapan put up a great show i must say. Reminded me of the "Satriandika" days. [School's team name while under Mr Muhd Mazlan's watch] All the fancy shmancy moves. Before volume was a bigger issue that steps [se-taps. Ahaha]. But its was an exciting challenge. Now i just deal with one ragam-ers. [yawn haha..] Wheres he challenge in that? Our performance was okay. Nothing unsual [somtimes thats the problem]. If indra was much confidenté, if there werent 1-2 drunk awok awoks, if, if, if... too late now huh. haha... Laugh it away. After watching the VCDs and experiencing Dikir, I guess Dikir can be a whole lot better if there was no serious rivalry and all the unneccessary politics.
The day after, Saturday. Mum was making nutella roll biscuits. She was making Chicken rice for dinner too. Experimented on the Hainanese chicken boil/steam method. Something like that. Me equiped with my years of watching cooking shows, made roast chicken. And i wasnt even going to break fast at home. Didnt look after them so they were abit charred. Told mum to save me some and this square bowl as small as an eraser filled with nutella i made out of her biscuit dough. She saved me the peha umm the thigh? portion. Dont like thighs. Amazingly all finished even though charred.
Like i said, i went to the Majlis ifthar at Mak's place. Not Mark's place [hehe salah] The food was good. Enjoyed the baby squid and the black pepper beef. Company was great. After that the whole group of about 50-70, walked to Geylang. [Probably worked out all the baby squid i ate.] It was a long walk. Wander again into the creature they call Bazaar Geylang. Endless rows of dendeng, carpets, Baju kurong and plastic flowers. haha. Then went to Singapore Post area to just chill. Thanks again Hafez and whole of panjy for inviting me and the great company. Hmm.. Names i remember [Din, Saleh, Naim, Iskandar, Hakim, Sharil, Irwan.. lain lupa ah]. Thanks a guys. Me going to Phuket? tengok dulu ah.. hehe
Yesterday went to madrasah. Didnt do much. Ustaz pun dah malas agaknye. During break time we hang around in the masjid. Even at the wanita section at the second floor. Resting face up, i gaze at the ceiling, more importantly the malay architecture and the vast space that has made me want a replica for my retirement home. The ground floor where the men are designated for, was generally empty except a few people with an open quran in their hands. We decided it was safe to go up to the imam's section. Wasted tak bawak camera. Haikal [Hi-kle] went up to the Mimbar to give a sermon to the carpet. Kelakar ah.. When i think about it i start laughing. There was also a standing mic that couldnt be turned on. "1..2..3.. GO" Hey Ya lah. So there we were, 6 of us laughing our heads off [tergolek golek] at the front section of the mosque. Next week will be our exam which we are not looking forward to.
Some days i part my hair left, sometimes its right. Most days i'm just confused.
Wanita hiasan dunia. To see them smoking? ..

Hilang martabad diri tradisi diletak tepi
Kurang orang memuji malah sedih dikatai
Hari berganti hari tak siapa menyedari..."
Sound Clip
I close my eyes when i listen to indra's voice. Imagining i have that kind of voice. Just to drown in the emotion and the feel. This clip does not do him justice. haha
This post should last a week.
